Teachers strike in Morocco
A message of solidarity from the World Federation of Teachers’ Unions FISE with the National University of Teachers FNE
The World Federation of Teachers Unions, FISE, an affiliated member of WFTU expresses its solidarity with the National Education Union, FNE Morocco and supports its decisions for a general strike in national education on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 February 2023
FISE condemns the systematic and flagrant exclusion of the National Education Union FNE from its right to make use of the public media to express its position and rally the teachers to their just demands such as signing proper employment contracts and defending the public free character of education.
FISE defends and strengthens the struggle of teachers in Morocco who, under threats and governmental intimidation, have the strength and decisiveness to defend the rights of women and men who are persecuted because they rejected the agreement that the government is trying to impose and which it does not meet the needs of the teachers as well as the education’s that are necessary and important for the whole people.
Union freedoms, freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful protest are many forms and rights won by the working class, by the people, and we will not allow any government to take us 150 years back.
FNE is not alone. The world trade union movement, WFTU, FISE, the member unions of FISE stand by the side of them who are being prosecuted for their trade union action.
We wish you good organization and success in your strike
