Introduction of the Course
United All Nepal Teachers’ Organization (UANTO) in association with Nepal Government, Ministry of Education, Department of Education, organized a 5-day training on “Use of ICT in Education & Leadership Development” from 23 July to 27 July 2018 at Krishna Vog Party Palace, New Baneshwor, Kathmandu.

The Training program aimed at developing the leadership skills as well as improving the capacity of teachers of the public schools of Nepal so that they could use ICT and the 21st century learning skills in their day-to-day activities in teaching and learning process. The goal of these trainings was to enable the teachers and educators to be sufficiently prepared, confident and competent in making full use of the benefits of these wonderful facilities in and out of the classroom.

The training courses offered an opportunity to get to know how to use ICT, its benefits, importance and strategies in a harmonized way for creating a better learning environment and addressing the digital divide.

Objectives of the Course
⦁ To enable teachers become competent in innovatively employing the tools of technology to supplement their traditional teaching methods and thereby achieve enhanced student-learning environment.
⦁ To enhance ICT literacy and confidence among teachers.
⦁ To provide an overview and understanding of educational policies explicitly dealing with ICT integration.
⦁ Give an insight on a series of ICT tools that implicitly support creative learning and innovative teaching; this would improve participants’ awareness of the potential of ICT to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum.
⦁ To enhance participants’ information literacy, Internet research skills and presentation skills.
⦁ Identifying and discussing key leadership skills, traits, and styles appropriate for teachers.
⦁ To demonstrate the important role of Teachers as Leaders in our community and country.
⦁ Learn best practice leadership skills, traits, and styles.

The training program was inaugurated by Ex-Prime Minister and the President of Nepal Communist Party, Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda). Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Giriraj Mani Pokharel, State Minister of Social Development, Yuva Raj Dulal and other delegates also delivered the speech highlighting the current issues in Education in the inaugural ceremony. Welcoming the delegates and participants, President of UANTO, Mr. Shankar Adhikari highlighted the major activities conducted by UANTO.
The daily schedule of the training program was divided into two parts. First part of the programs were held between 7 am and 10 am, which were related with leadership management. Top leaders of Nepal including Mr. Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Mr. Janardan Sharma, Agni Sapkota conducted several sessions on leadership management. Spokesperson of Ministry of Education Mr. Baikumtha Aryal, Executive Director of Curriculum Development Center (CDC), Mr. Krishna Prasad Kapri delivered sessions on current affairs related with Nepalese Education System. Likewise, Mr. Raj Kumar Baral highlighted on World Teachers’ Movement.

In the five days training program, altogether 20 technical sessions about different ICT tools and technologies were delivered between 10 AM and 4 PM. Mr. Sushil Upreti, Instructional Technology Trainer led the technical sessions. There were 145 teacher leaders from 77 districts taking part in the training program. The program set the remarkable history in conducting a big event of integrating ICT in education.
