Teachers in South Darfur, in Kass, in Buram and in Rahad el Berdhi keep on with their strike for the forth week in a row. A strike which started after the invitation of the Democratic Teachers’ Association of South Darfur, demanding the payment of their salaries, as well as of their arrears.
The government of South Darfur denies to answer to the demands of the strikers teachers, while representatives of the Democratic Teachers’ Association refer to “indifference about issues that concern education and teachers”.
FISE expresses its solidarity with the strikers teachers of South Darfur and it supports their fair struggle and their demands.
We condemn the unacceptable attitude of the government of South Darfur, which drives teachers to poverty and misery and we invite the teachers’ unions and organizations to support in a practical way our colleagues who are on strike.
