The National Office of the National Education Federation FNE (Democratic Tendency) calls for solidarity and concrete support for all victims of the earthquake of Friday evening September 8, 2023 in Morocco
The National Office of the National Education Federation FNE (Democratic Tendency) is following, with great sadness, the repercussions of the devastating earthquake in Morocco which struck on the night of Friday September 8, 2023 to Saturday September 9, 2023, in the provinces of Al Haouz, Taroudant, Chichaoua, Ouarzazate, Marrakech, Azilal, Tinghir, Youssoufia, Agadir, Casablanca… whose extent has reached most Moroccan cities with a more or less strong intensity and the destruction that it caused damage to homes and road structures, particularly in marginalized and poor areas, in addition to the large number of martyrs and injured…
While the National Office of the FNE notes the delay and hesitation of relief efforts due to the fragility, road cuts and the weakness of human and material capacities, and given the horror of the tragedy and of the broad national and international solidarity that it requires… the National Office of the FNE:
1- Presents its most sincere condolences, sympathy and solidarity to the families of the martyrs and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured;
2- Notes that there is a delay and official weakness in assistance to victims of the earthquake and in media support for the regions affected by the earthquake: Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Taroudant, Marrakech, Azilal and Ouarzazate…
3- Calls on the official authorities to accelerate relief, rescue and ambulance operations, particularly in affected areas whose inhabitants live in weakness and fragility, and to provide food and blankets…;
4- Notes with deep regret that the Ministry of National Education did not intervene to announce the suspension of studies in the disaster areas in order to preserve the safety of students, teachers and administrators from the repercussions of the earthquake on their families and their schools..;
5- Calls on the sections of the National Federation of Education (FNE) Democratic Tendency in the affected regions, notably Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Taroudant, Marrakech, Azilal and Ouarzazate… to intensify efforts within the framework of education operations volunteering and assistance, coordinate them with democratic organizations in the region, and contribute effectively to rescuing the injured and meeting the needs of those affected in terms of accommodation, nutrition, support and humanitarian solidarity;
6- Calls on its activists, men and women, and all citizens, to rush to donate blood to help save the lives of the victims of the violent earthquake…;
7- Calls on telecommunications companies to open free communication services in affected areas and regions.
8- Renews its solidarity with all victims of the earthquake of September 8, 2023 and calls for effective action to mitigate the psychological and social repercussions of the earthquake…;
