SOLIDARITY TO THE TEACHERS OF MEXICO
Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto used violence and police repression against teachers, who objected to the reactionary reform of education in Mexico and other big cities.
Everything started when teachers gathered outside Nieto’s house early in the morning, asking for a meeting with the president, so that they could set out their demands. The president, though, sent a spokesman to recieve them and the teachers reacted immediately, forcing their way on two main roads of the region. After that, the police forces tried to break teachers’ blocks, using violence against them.
FISE condemns the violence and the state repression against teachers who protest.
We stand by the side of Mexican teachers, who keep on with their struggle against the reactionary reforms in education and we call for all teachers from all over the world to express their solidarity.
