FISE SOLIDARITY MESSAGE TO THE WORKERS AND STUDENTS OF PAKISTAN

The World Federation of Teachers Unions (FISE) was informed about the delay in issuance and renewal of passports in Pakistan that has seriously affected 1 million people in the country, the majority being workers (in Pakistan and abroad) and students, a large number of which cannot join their foreign educational institutions if their passports not given to them timely. This situation forces many citizens to pay extra charges for getting urgent passports.
The FISE expresses its deep concern over this very serious issue. This situation is seriously affecting our colleagues, Pakistani workers, especially those working abroad under very difficult conditions and in constant need of official documents. What’s more, this policy blocks the path of many Pakistani students and education professionals who need to travel abroad for educational purposes. This way the Educational Exchange between Pakistan and the rest of the world is blocked.
The FISE calls the government of Pakistan to take action and order issuance of the pending passports and demands, giving that way an end to this situation that generates serious problems for thousands of Pakistani workers and students.
