FISE expresses its solidarity with the strike of teachers in Chile that continues for the seventh consecutive week

FISE, the World Federation of Teachers Union, affiliated to the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), expresses its class solidarity with the primary and special education teachers of Chile who are on strike for the seventh consecutive week.

Our colleagues are demanding salary raises and improvements of working conditions for Chilean workers in education until their voice is heard. Especially in a situation in which the anti-labor policies promoted by the big capital and the Chilean government are becoming more acute.

This fight of the Chilean teachers is a struggle of the whole working class of Chile, it is a struggle for the satisfaction of the contemporary rights of all workers. FISE supports the struggle of those who educate the children of the working class, which is not only a trade union struggle, but also a struggle for dignity, the best lesson that can be given to new generations.

In that sense, FISE expresses its class solidarity with the Chilean teachers and we call on the Chilean people and teachers throughout the world to be on the side of their just struggle, for a public, universal and free education system that puts education at the service of the interests of the workers. Likewise, we urge the government of Chile to satisfy the demands of the teachers who struggle.

Comrades, keep on!

Long live the internationalist solidarity!
