FISE expresses its deep sadness and condolences to the workers and the people of Morocco for the hundreds of victims of the deadly earthquake of September 9.
FISE, the World Federation of Teachers Union, an affiliated member of WFTU expresses its condolences for the working people of Morocco and the hundreds of victims of the deadly earthquake.
The tragic consequences for the people in each country, the loss of people’s lives and property would have been saved if there had been funding for projects and infrastructure to protect them. If there were prevention projects, protection from earthquakes, from natural disasters, from phenomena that every year we expect and every year we experience with worse results.
We denounce the government that obliged teachers, students and administrators to be at schools despite the repercussions of the earthquake in disaster areas.
The government should take immediate action for the rescue, support and relief of the injured people and those affected in terms of accommodation and nutrition, with no more delays.
As we count our wounds, at the same time we turn our grief and rage into strength and struggle and revendication.
So that no more lives are lost, so that people in every country are protected.
We are intensifying the fight to support the victims of the disasters, for immediate restoration of the damages.
We call on the unions to take concrete solidarity initiatives.
We are intensifying the fight for measures to protect our people from earthquakes, fires, floods.
FISE expresses its solidarity with the tested people and workers of Morocco.
We stand by your side.
