In Italy, the demonstration organized by USB outside of the Parliament was attended by many migrant workers, migrants who had followed in the past the same route though the Mediterannean but managed to survive. They mourned their compatriots and promised to continue the struggle against the imperialist policy. President Boldrini denied the protestors request to meet with them and hear their demands. Aboubakar Soumahoro, National Executive Member of USB addressed the rally exposing the cruel reality that migrant workers face.

Welcoming letter from the teachers of PAME
For the teachers’ strike in Italy

Dear colleagues,

The teachers of PAME in Greece welcome the teachers strike in Italy, which is organized by the USB, Base Trade Union.

We express our solidarity with your fair struggle against the commercialization, the privatization of schools and of the generalization of the flexible working relations of the teachers, the beating of the children’s educational rights.

The privatizations in education are the directives of the bourgeoisie and have the seal of their organizations and forums, the OECD and the EU. They want the education in every country to be an expensive merchandise for the parents, cheap for the state and profitable for the capital. They want young people to be insufficiently educated, so that they become badly paid workers. They want teachers with as few rights as possible, afraid and obedient to the directives of the capital.

We claim exclusively public and free education, with modern schools, united program, where the children van be taught the scientific and historical truth, for the workers’ children. In these schools, teachers and employees are going to have a permanent job and are going to receive salaries, which will allow them to live with dignity.

Dear colleagues,

The success of your strike may be a part of the effort for bigger, more massive and victorious struggles, not only for teachers, but for all workers.

THE  PAN-HELLENIC SECRETARY OF TEACHERS OF PAME

The FISE, World Federation of Teachers’ Unions, a member of the WFTU welcomes the teachers’ strike in Italy, which is organized by the USB, Base Union Syndicale.

We express our solidarity with the struggle against the privatization of schools and of the generalization of the flexible working relations for the teachers.

The working class in Italy and all over the world needs modern schools for free, where teachers can teache the scientific and historical truth, schools, where the employees will be paid properly and will enjoy all of their working rights.

The privatizations in the sector of education are only profitable for the monopolies and the capital. They aim at the absolute adaption of education to the directives of the OECD and the EU, which wish the education would be a merchandise and not a good. They are destructive for the young generation and for all the people.

The struggle for the teachers’ rights is linked to the struggle for the interests of our class.

We wish you good luck for the strike of the 24th of April

Athens-Rome: Demonstrations at the offices of the European Union on Thursday, April 23

They Drown People in the Mediterranean

MurderersThieves-Hypocrites are the European Imperialists

rodos-670x358Hundreds dead in the last days, in addition to the thousands of immigrants who died tragic deaths in search of a better life, among them many children. Imperialism has turned the Mediterranean into a vast graveyard of souls.

No one should remain indifferent towards the ongoing crime, the mass drowning of migrants and refugees in the Mediterranean.

The Greek and Italian Governments bear great responsibilities, because they actively take part in the dangerous  competitions in the area. They support the interventions of the imperialists, the EU and NATO, who bloodshed the region from Libya to Iraq and Syria as Ukraine.

Hundreds of thousands of refugees are victims of the imperialists, hostages in their claws, who use human souls as a bargaining chip to their fighting for oil, for the control of the pipelines and the markets, for the control of the region. The Mediterranean is filled with corpses, and those who do escape, are living chased by repression, the savage exploitation of the bosses, the knives of the fascists. Hypocritically the organise a Summit on Immigration, their tears are fake.

rodos-metanastes-10_0We call on trade unions, the mass organizations to demand:

  • No participation, no involvement in the imperialist interventions that take place  and to those that are being prepared
  • No worker should be blinded by the pretenses of the imperialists.
  • Insubordination in Dublin and Schengen Treaties that have transformed our country into a “warehouse of souls”, trapping people.
  • Asylum for the refugees and travel documents for them to travel wherever they want
  • Open, humane hospitality areas for the migrants and refugees. Closing down the concentration camps for refugees
  • Legalization of immigrants living and working in our country and have acquired biotic links

WFTU Statement on the tragic deaths of hundreds of refugees and immigrants in the Mediterranean

fsmAthens, Greece – April 20th, 2014

MURDERERS AND HYPOCRITES

WFTU Statement on the tragic deaths of hundreds of refugees and immigrants in the Mediterranean

The World Federation of Trade Unions representing 90 million workers in 126 countries of the world expresses its grief and frustration for the tragedy that took place in the Mediterranean resulting to the death of hundreds of immigrants and refugees on April 19th, 2015.

rodos4The deaths of hundreds of people in the Mediterranean and particularly South of Italy are added to the long list of immigrants finding their death looking for a better livelihood while being exploited by smugglers.

However, these are not accidents, they are crimes. Immigrants and refugees were forced to this position by the imperialist policy of NATO, of USA and of the European Union, by their aggressiveness and intervention in Libya, in Syria, in Iraq, in Mali, in Yemen etc., by the policies of the multinationals and the plundering of the natural resources of the people in Africa and the Middle East, by the destruction and manipulation of the countries’ economies and finally by the inhumane policy of the European Union and its Governments against the migrant workers.

rodos5With anger and frustration we listen to the Heads of the Governments in Italy, in France, in Greece and other EU countries expressing their sorrow for the incident and repeating generic phrasing for “a new policy” while their countries Governments have fully supported the imperialist wars actively and while they have co-signed and fully implemented the policy of the European Union against the immigrants and refugees.

That makes them both Murderers and Hypocrites!

The World Federation of Trade Unions with its anti-imperialist and internationalist position and action denounces the murderous and hypocritical policy of the European Union and its Governments and struggles for the elimination of the aggressiveness against the people of North Africa and the Middle East, for the dissolution of NATO and for the utilization of the natural resources by the people for their own interests and for the popular development that will bring the reconstruction and the prosperity of the people.

rodos7We demand the immediate end of all imperialist interventions. We ask from the International Organizations to support the countries of origin of economic immigrants and of the political refugees.

The phenomena or racism, neofascism and xenophobia must be fully confronted.

We express our condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the Mediterranean Sea.
